Invest in a ' Moment in Time ' taken from the dramatic Scottish and American Landscape. Lindsay is currently working on a project based on the Scottish Nation, its people, places and power, with other projects being planned for the USA and Africa. Lindsay embarked on a recent project to capture the dramatic landscape where Scottish born environmentalist John Muir's vision flourished over 150 years ago. To celebrate the majesty, granduer and intimacy of nature that inspired John Muir, who was the founding father of the modern conservation movement, and responsible for establishing the Sierra Club in California. Master photographer Ansel Adams, himself an ardent conservasionist became a director of the same club some years later. Lindsay combined their pioneering work by capturing "a moment in our time" to celebrate the Genius of John Muir and Ansel Adams, the men and their landscape. Coast to coast Caledonia to California. The project resulted in Lindsay's work being recognised by the Eastman House, who's director offered Lindsay their Ansel Adams collection to exhibit alongside. Lindsay thereby secured Scotland, as only the second country outwith the USA to see the collection, but also as the last location to view the Eastman House's collection by master photographer Ansel Adams, before it was returned to its archive in the USA. The resulting joint exhibition achieved one of the highest gallery attendances ever in Scotland. A timely reminder At a time when mankind is becoming more aware of environmental issues, the nature photography of Lindsay Robertson is a poignant reminder of the wonderful world in which we live and the custodial responsibility we have for future generations. Love and respect for the wilderness then and now - our legacy. "Nature is always lovely, invincible, glad, whatever is done and suffered by her creatures. All scars she heals, whether in rocks or water or sky or hearts. ..." John Muir " Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity..." John Muir 1898 |
