Inspired by the work and vision of Scottish born environmentalist John Muir, Lindsay embarked on a project to capture the dramatic landscape where Muir's vision flourished over 150 years ago. In celebration of the majesty, granduer and intimacy of nature that inspired John Muir, the founding father of the modern conservation movement, and responsible for establishing the Sierra Club.

Ansel Adams, himself an ardent conservasionist became a director of the same club some years later. Lindsay Robertson combined their pioneering work by capturing "a moment in our time" to celebrate the Genius of John Muir and Ansel Adams, the men and their landscape. Coast to coast Caledonia to California.

By special arrangement with the Eastman House in 2008. Lindsay Robertson secured Scotland as the last location to view the George Eastman House's collection by master photographer Ansel Adams, before it was returned to its archive in the USA. The resulting joint exhibition achieved one of the highest gallery attendances ever in Scotland.

A timely reminder

At a time when mankind is becoming more aware of environmental issues, the nature photography of Lindsay Robertson is a poignant reminder of the wonderful world in which we live and the custodial responsibility we have for future generations.

Love and respect for the wilderness then and now - our legacy.

"Nature is always lovely, invincible, glad, whatever is done and suffered by her creatures. All scars she heals, whether in rocks or water or sky or hearts. ..." John Muir

" Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity..." John Muir 1898
